Developing a solid technical foundation
You only can play the piano freely with solid foundation. Every lesson starts with fundamental techniques that helps students mastering their repertoire.
Integrating theoretical and analytical understanding
Music theory is an integral part of the piano learning. It incorporates in every lesson to give students understanding of what they are practicing and performing.
Nurturing students' independence in their piano practice.
The primary goal in music-learning is for students to gain independence and joy throughout their practice time without frustration. This could only be done through proper balance in technique and music theory.
The Founder
Alfred Situmorang has spent the last decade proving that music is worth a meaningful career through his studies. Since 2015, the Indonesian pianist has performed solo recitals and collaborated with various choirs, chamber ensembles, orchestras, and opera singers across the U.S.
He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary-School of Church Music and Worship. Alfred has served as Staff Accompanist for the Southwestern Acapella and a teaching fellow at the Southwestern Music Academy.
In 2019, Alfred received the MTNA Collegiate Grant from the Music Teachers National Association.

At Sonority Music Studio, musical excellence and the joy of music‑making should go hand in hand. Students build a solid technical foundation through guided practice and healthy playing habits. Learning music theory helps them to understand how the music they play works altogether.
Each student follows a personalized lesson plan shaped by their age, skill level, goals, and learning style. Through thoughtful preparation in practice sessions, students are confident to share their music to audience in performance.
Parent-Teacher-Student Connection
A strong connection between parents, students, and the teacher is essential for meaningful musical growth. After the initial audition or evaluation, each student should receive a projected lesson plan, similar to a syllabus, that outlines goals, expectations, and areas of development appropriate to the student's level.
This shared plan helps parents understand the learning process, supports students at home, and allows the teacher to guide each student's progress with clarity and consistency.
Sonority Music Studio follows an open-lesson approach, allowing parents to observe their child's piano learning progress. This creates transparency, supports communication, and helps ensure a safe and supportive environment for both the student and the teacher.
